Our Story

The Journey of Our Tequila

Tequila is for lovers.

This isn’t your average love story — but then again, average has never really been our thing.

We met in the middle of a global pandemic: two single parents navigating the chaos of parenthood, work, and life during a time when nothing made sense. Somewhere between Zoom school meltdowns and late-night sanity checks, we found each other.

What Adam didn’t know then was that the business I’d spent the better part of 18 years building was crumbling. COVID, and the strict regulations that came around selling surgical devices at a time when no one was having surgery, brought it all to a standstill. I was in the trenches, searching for something that could support my family (I’m a single mom) and give me back my spark.

Here’s where tequila enters the picture. Adam was never a tequila drinker. He’d go out of his way to avoid it. Me? I’ve always loved it. Tequila became my constant — my go-to for celebrating happy milestones, surviving losses, and everything in between. It gave me a little fire when I needed to feel powerful, and a little comfort when I needed to feel held. I tried to convert him, often, to my dismay. No matter how smooth the pour or how perfect the cocktail, he just didn’t get it. Until one night, after one more “just taste this,” I had an idea: if I couldn’t find a tequila we both loved, maybe we’d just have to make it. And somewhere between that idea and a few tequila kisses, something real took root: a connection, a spark, a shared belief that even when life is unpredictable, it’s still worth celebrating.

Four years, 14,386 mistakes, and a whole lot of learning later, NECESITA was born. Lovingly crafted from a carefully curated blend of highland and lowland Jalisco Blue Agave, and brought to life by a female maestra tequilera, NECESITA offers three expressions as bold and layered as we are. And no, we don’t make a blanco. We’re not an average couple, and this isn’t an average tequila brand. We wanted flavors that disrupted the marketplace, something not everyone was making.

After countless iterations, we landed on three: Añejo, Cristalino, and Reposado.

● Añejo is masterfully aged in bourbon oak barrels for one to three years, developing rich notes of toasted nuts, caramel, and vanilla. Best sipped slowly, over ice.

● Cristalino is lightly aged in oak and then charcoal-filtered for clarity. The result? Bright citrus, hints of coconut, and a touch of toasted agave.

● Reposado, aged six to nine months in the same barrels, strikes a warm, golden balance with notes of baking spices and sandalwood.

We created NECESITA not just to toast life’s big wins, but to bring joy to the quieter moments too, the everyday memories that matter just as much. Because sometimes, what you want is exactly what you need. Please enjoy NECESITA with your favorite people, one sip at a time. Just like we do.

With love, Brittany (and Adam)

Everything You Need to Know About Tequila

Blanco tequila, also known as silver or white tequila, is unaged and bottled immediately after distillation. Añejo tequila is aged for one to three years, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile.

Tequila should be stored in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes. Keep the bottle upright to prevent the cork from drying out, which can affect the quality of the tequila.

Tequila can be enjoyed in various ways depending on personal preference. Blanco tequila is great for cocktails like margaritas, while Reposado and Añejo tequilas are often enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate their complex flavors.
